Vegetarians' delight
Places to eat without meat "When I quit eating meat 27 years ago, there were almost no vegetarian
restaurants here," says Linda Hollar, the publisher of Harder Beat, a
local music magazine. "I'd go out on a dinner date, and all I could eat
was a baked potato and salad.''
The emergence of ethnic restaurants, especially Indian ones, has given
Dallas-area vegetarians more interesting options. And it's made life
easier for the Dallas Vegetarian Lunch Group. Formed by truck driver
James Bisby, the group meets every Sunday at a different vegetarian or
vegetarian-friendly restaurant.
The group maintains its own dining guide. Below, in alphabetical
order, are some of their favorite restaurants.
